Mr. Nate Smith graduated from Muskingum College in 2001, where he majored in Education and History and played football for the Muskies. He returned to Muskingum to earn his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership in 2007 and is currently pursuing an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree. Nate holds licensure as a 7–12 Comprehensive Social Studies teacher, Principal, and Superintendent.
Nate began his career in education in 2001 with Morgan Local Schools in McConnelsville, Ohio, teaching History, Psychology, and Economics. While teaching, he also coached football, wrestling, and baseball for the Raiders. He later served as Dean of Students at Morgan High School before becoming Athletic Director and Assistant Principal.
Since 2014, Mr. Smith has proudly served as High School Principal at his alma mater, Logan Elm Local Schools. In 2023, he transitioned into the role of High School/Middle School Principal following the completion of Logan Elm’s new K–12 facility. During his tenure, Nate contributed to several major district projects, including the successful levy campaign to fund the new school building, renovations to the football and track stadium, and the addition of facilities such as a new concession stand for the band and a greenhouse for the agriculture program.
Nate and his wife, Emily, have three children: Addie (17), Elleigh (14), and Andrew (10). He enjoys camping at the beach with his family, hunting out West, and cheering on his kids at their sporting events.
