injustice- a lack of justice or fairness

registered- someone who had his or her name placed on a list

Biography

  • The story of a real person's life written by another person

  • Usually presents events in chronological order

  • Text features: diagrams, time lines

Comprehension Skill:

Author's Point of View

  • Author's point of view is the author's attitude or position on a topic

  • Author's give reasons and evidence to support their points.

  • Ask yourself: "What is the author's attitude about this? What clues in the text reveal this attitude?"

Vocabulary Strategy:

Synonyms and Antonyms

  • Context clues help you determine the meanings of unknown words.

  • Synonyms have a similar meaning to the unknown word. (Example: gigantic/huge)

  • Antonyms have the opposite meaning. (Example: gigantic/ tiny)
